Birding Hotspot at Langkawi Island - Part 5

BARN THAI

Naturally in Thai language it means Hse of Thai. Actually this is a very unique restaurant one of it's kind in the word. It was build within the mangroves forest on the island of Langkawi. Every dinners/visitors need to walk on a 450m long boardwalk to take a brief glance of our mangrove forest, God's natural providence of protection the edge of land being wash out from the sea waves.
This unique restaurant was constructed by Yeong Teong Lay's construction expertise. It's surrounding provide excellent site for mangrove forest bird watching. This unique restaurant provides the nearby Indian communities job oppurtunities whom previously their forefathers was a rubber tapper

However I do notice that bird life is zero no bird call at all during low tide. Therefore do not visit this place when it was low tide. Barn Thai is at Kisap Area.
We went back again during tide is coming in. Something better my birder friend spotted this lone Crested Serpent Eagle perched.
A pair of Greater Flameback fly in as I was looking out for birds behind the restaurant. The workers there was kind to me, since the restaurant is yet to be in their business hours they invited me to step my feet into the restaurant. I was amazed of some important figures have dined in this restaurant before by glancing at some old photographs hang on the restaurant walls.

Well the male bird was a distance away from me.. therefore I take the chance to work on the female bird instead.

This is the motion of a woody peck for it's meals. Look at how it use it's tail to support itself on a branch..

A flock of Oriental Pied Hornbill will frequent the fruiting tree at the car park.
